Faux Pas

Last night I was up too late again.
Why don't I turn it all off sooner?
One night in seven I might nod off
at a decent time. There's something
in my chest that flaps at the thought
of rest.
Most days too I make it to the corner
without my seatbelt on. Once a month
or so I drive the whole way from school
to mall bookstore ungirded. Am I
being cool?
So often I eschew the yoga poses I
really need to do . . . in favor of
what? Your guess is as good as
it gets. Maybe it's the dust
down there.
I still buy plastic but I hate the stuff.
Why must berries come in it? and pens of
all colors? And catfood? And buttermilk?
I gave up shredded carrots because of it.
Right now in a fridge drawer is one big
carrot to slice up - - bought bulk.
