Ripped from the Headlines

Here are few things that strike me as being really unfair: Children getting cancer; children being abused; children being wrenched from their mothers arms; children being orphaned by their drug addicted or mentally ill parents; children being orphaned by bombing attacks; children drowning as they try to get to safety; children unable to play outside because it’s too dangerous; children who are scared to go to school.

What is happening that we can’t keep our children safe? It’s unfair that anyone gets cancer or is abused or forced to flee for their safety or has to live in fear. It seems particularly unfair to me when these things happen to children. Children trust adults to provide safety and protection. We are failing children all over the world, and that’s really unfair on a monumental scale. They deserve better.
