birds in a barrel's mission is to release creative nonfiction into the wild.

40 Days & 40 Writes is its first project.

The final stretch

Sorry I've been a little MIA this week, but I'm glad to see that you're each keeping up with the prompts. I was just reading through the last few day's submissions, and sometimes I think that I would just run a program like this forever so that I could be charmed daily by the things people write about their own lives and thoughts.

Nominations are still open for your own ideas for the final four prompts. Shoot me a note if you've got a prompt to share.

We have just two weeks to go now. Over the next week, the prompts get a little more abstract, and while I've given you a little direction, feel free to take these wherever you feel you need to go. The time guidances are also ticking upward, but if you're feeling into something, this is the stage to write as long as feels right.

I hope you've had a chance to both glance at the standings page and it's additional data points, and to read at least some of what's been added to the blog. You guys are writing between 350 and 550 words, ostensibly in less than 20 minutes. Think about that. Now I personally believe that the ideal book length is about 228 pages. If any of you wanted to right now, you could write that book in 133 days... working on it less than a half-hour at a time.

Onward and upward!
