Please Tell Me What Not to Do

Make your exhale twice as long as your inhale.

Don’t create scenarios that don’t exist.

If you want to have a friend, you have to be a friend.

Think about what you’re doing; don’t think about what you’re thinking about.

*Don’t talk unless you can improve the silence.*

Treat yourself; don't cheat yourself!

My favorite advice has boundaries, as if to make clear that if you’re not doing it right, you’re doing it wrong. I’m into this because there can be an element of built in self-assessment. It’s also sort of like giving directions via landmark parameters, “If you get to the brick lighthouse you’ve gone too far.”

I crave--and seek--wise advise from my inner circle favorites. Most of the rest is just noise.
